A medical practice may be built on a single provider, but that person rarely does it alone.  Most practices have a team of people performing various functions, from receptionist making appointments, to the back office medical assistant helping a crying child.  We never loose sight of the fact that a practice is not only the health care provider, but team making the practice function at its best.

Sustainable billing is maximizing revenue without compromising integrity.  This means following, maintaining, and at times exceeding the standards of billing.  Complying with the National Coding Initiatives, sending claims that accurately represent the encounter the provider had with the patient, and timely submission of claims and accompanying paperwork to both health insurance payers and patients.

The constant in health care is that is changes.  Most changes center on compliance with Federal and State laws including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statue, and Medicare.  Providers must also meet standards of documentation to justify services provided.

In order for a health care provider to make any decision for the practice, that providers needs business information.  Timely monthly reporting is one of the means to accomplish this goal.  We prefer a monthly conversation to discuss the results of the reports, strategic planning, and analysis.
